Challenge Set 3

Closes Part 1, after Activity 1.10. Two pages, neither of them a brief.

What This Set Is For

This set is review, not build. Nothing here asks you to design a program from a request. Both pages ask you to read code somebody else wrote and say what it does.

Together they cover the whole of Part 1 — output, variables and types, arithmetic, integer division, input, and conversion. They are the last thing before the Part 1 quiz.

Two Kinds of Work

  • A question set is short, timed, and done without running any code. You mark each answer sure or unsure, and the unsure ones are the useful data.
  • A debug challenge gives you broken programs. For each one you classify the fault, diagnose it, repair it, and test that the repair worked.

The Challenges

Do the question set without running anything. Guessing and marking it unsure is worth more than looking it up, because the quiz will not let you look anything up either.

Which Homework These Feed

Both pages are collected together as one drop, graded on completion. Do them as a pair rather than saving one for later — they cover the same material from opposite directions, and the pairing is the point.

The dropbox says how many. This page only says what is available.
